Northern kentucky university jeanna goettelman funke suite

Highland Heights, Kentucky

The Jeanna Goettelman Funk Suite is a small renovation at the Soccer Stadium on NKU’s campus. The project was designed and constructed to honor the memory former NKU Soccer Player, Jeanna Goettelman Funk, who unfortunately passed away after a battle with cancer. NKU tasked H+W with transforming an underutilized storage space into a multipurpose lounge for spectators and a training facility for soccer players and staff. Like many projects, the budget needed to be stretched to maximum the projects potential to both serve the soccer players and honor the memory of the namesake. With a series of small interventions and alterations we were able to design a dramatic new entrance that pulls the occupants into the renovated space. By utilizing high gloss NKU Gold and other branding colors the space blends seamlessly into NKU’s vibrant surrounding. The high end and elegant finishes are the perfect backdrop for game day fun but durable enough to take a beating by students and staff. The double duty space will serve NKU for decades to come.
